Huckabee is for Israel-- Will Israel be for Huckabee?

If you've read my other two blogs, you already know that I love Israel. (Or, if you're new to my blogs, welcome!) I'll be using this blog to bring to light the main reason I'm supporting Gov. Mike Huckabee, and it's all about Israel.

My past readers (meaning, my Jewish blogger friends) are hereby warned: I'll be using biblical references in this blog. But not to worry-- even though you know I believe in Jesus, the references will be from "that portion" of the Bible that we agree upon. :)

And another disclaimer: if you're enamoured of Israel's current leadership, you're not gonna like this blog. I vehemently OPPOSE the so-called "Land for Peace" program that the U.S. has forced on Israel, and which Prime Minister Olmert seems to have wholeheartedly embraced. Blech. Nuff said.

So let's get right to it: Why do I support Mike Huckabee? Because he won't put pressure on Israel! He very strongly opposes the "Land for Peace" program, and (this is my favorite part), when asked whether he supports the establishment of a Palestinian state, he says that he has no problem with that-- BUT, perhaps Saudi Arabia or Egypt would like to donate part of one of THEIR much larger countries to the cause, rather than carving away at Israel. (Ha! Am I the only one who thinks that's just hilarious?! I love it!! But I bet nobody would love that statement quite as much as residents of Sderot, or the (former) residents of Gush Katif.)

Huckabee has stated on multiple occasions that he would not be willing to tell Israel what to do, and says that as Israel is its own sovereign nation, it wouldn't be appropriate to even recommend any course of action. I believe Huckabee has such a strong respect for Israel (and G-d), that he wouldn't even be TEMPTED to dictate policy to Israel.

So what does this have to do with America? Well, I'd really like G-d to look favorably upon America, and to keep blessing us. --I mean, I may be planning to make aliyah, but America will always be the land of my birth, and is where I currently make my home. I care very deeply about America. And I really don't think the Almighty will look favorably upon America if we keep bullying Israel. (Haven't we already done enough?! Please.) In Gov. Huckabee, we finally have a candidate who not only won't DICTATE policy to Israel, but who will actually be SUPPORTIVE.

I'll get to those references (both biblical and otherwise) tomorrow. Stay tuned! :)
